the Guggenheim Museum
the Guggenheim Museum [the Guggenheim Museum] BrE NAmE
a museum of modern art in New York, built with money given by Solomon R Guggenheim (1861–1949), a rich ↑businessman. The unusual circular building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and opened in 1959. It is sometimes called the ‘giant snail’.
