the Younger brothers
the Younger brothers [the Younger brothers] BrE NAmE
four US ↑outlaws (= criminals) in the ↑Wild West. The best known of the four brothers were Cole Younger (1844–1916) and Jim Younger (1848–1902). They were ↑cousins of Jesse and Frank James, and the group was sometimes called the James-Younger Gang. Three of the brothers were captured and sent to prison after trying to rob a bank in Northfield, ↑Minnesota, in 1876. There have been several films about them, including The Long Riders (1980) and American Outlaws (2001).
