Word Origin:
Old English scrubb, scrybb ‘shrubbery’; compare with West Flemish schrobbe ‘vetch’, Norwegian skrubba ‘dwarf cornel’ (a type of dogwood), also with the noun ↑scrub senses 2 and 3.
