Carnegie Hall
Carnegie Hall [Carnegie Hall] BrE NAmE a large concert hall in New York, used for all types of music. When it first opened in 1891 it was called the Music Hall, but in 1898 it was named after Andrew Carnegie. Performers there have included Yehudi Menuhin and the ↑Beatles. There were plans to destroy it in the late 1950s but a campaign by well-known musicians saved it.
