Com·an·che 7 [Comanche Comanches] BrE [kəˈmæntʃi] NAmE [kəˈmæntʃi] noun (pl. Com·an·cheor Com·an·ches) a member of a Native American people, many of whom live in the US state of Oklahoma Word Origin: Spanish, from Comanche (the language of the Comanche people). Culture: The Comanches are related to the ↑Shoshone people. The Comanches were excellent riders who fought hard and kept white people out of western ↑Texas until the 1870s.
