Mary Baker Eddy [Mary Baker Eddy] BrE NAmE
(1821–1910) the American woman who in 1879 began the Church of Christ, Scientist. She first presented her idea that religious belief can cure illness in her book Science and Health (1875). She also began the ↑Christian Science Monitor newspaper in 1908.
