Word Origin:
from Old French, via Latin from Greek Minōtauros, from Minōs + tauros ‘bull’. Minos is a legendary king of Crete in Greek mythology, whose wife gave birth to the Minotaur. He received tribute from Athens in the form of young people to be eaten by the Minotaur.
