1 A = B

2 A is exactly like B
- exactly like the one already mentioned: the same (as sb/sth), the same that ※¦, identical (to/with sb/sth)
Yesterday I was stopped by a policeman and asked to produce my licence, and the same thing happened again today. ◎ That car's the same as ours (= the same model).
This computer is identical to the one I had before.
- to be the same as: correspond (with sth)
The two sets of figures did not correspond.
- when you do the same thing as sb else, you do likewise
I'm leaving before the company goes bankrupt and I advise you to do likwise.
- to the same degree: equally, just as, as ※¦ as sb/sth

- two or more people or things that are the same in some way or ways, but not completely the same are similar, alike (not before a noun)
We found that we had similar problems. ◎ These novels are quite similar in style. ◎ Those twins are so alike I sometimes don't know which one I'm talking to!
- the quality of being similar: similarity (noun C/U), likeness (noun C/U)
You could see a slight similarity between the two paintings. ◎ There was almost no similarity between the brothers. ◎ a strong family likeness
- very similar: much the same
